Fundraising-boosting ideas

We know that fundraising can feel daunting, especially when you want to make a brilliant impact on the lives of children and young people in your community. So, we've pulled together our Top 10 quick and easy fundraising-boosting ideas!

Prepare! Especially if you have a bit of spare time or a particular figure that you want to raise. Download our Editable fundraising calendar and Editable fundraising tracker to stay organised.

JustGiving is great for promoting your challenge and everything you raise on it will automatically come to us. Take some time to upload a picture, write about your challenge and outline why you think it’s important. Friends, clients and colleagues will be donating before you know it!

Whether you all give something up or ban certain words and phrases from the office, you could get sponsored and donate the money you raise.

Much like your JustGiving page, if you can share your inspiration for starting your fundraising journey, your progress and maybe even the bits that you're finding most difficult, people are more likely to donate or sponsor you. You can find plenty of sharable social media assets on our Fundraising ideas page.

This is a particularly great idea if your office or friend group are into a particular sport or activity. For legal guidance, read the Fundraising Regulator's Code of Fundraising Practice. Section 12 is particularly important as it covers lotteries, prize competitions and free draws. You should also visit the Gambling Commission's website for more information.

Whether it’s what you wanted to be when you grew up or your childhood hero, have a dress-down (or up!) day in the office and charge a few pounds for participating.

Whether you host an event for clients and colleagues or friends and family, there’s something for everyone. You could hold a dinner party, race night, 80s night or film night. It could be seasonal – an easter egg hunt for colleagues and their families, a Christmas karaoke tradition or a Halloween Spooktacular. The possibilities are endless!

This can be entirely virtual, with colleagues submitting pictures or videos of their pets under headings you set and paying an entry donation. We’ve seen some excellent ‘best dressed’ submissions in the past!

It could be books, children’s toys, in-person or virtual. Just donate the proceeds.

Challenge all colleagues to donate one hour’s pay towards keeping children safe.

Good luck, and know that we're here to help if you need any more ideas or support.
